Cutting Problems
Occasionally, you may find that your CraftROBO has difficulty cutting out certain parts. This page details some specific cases and the best solutions for dealing with them.
Case 1: Incomplete Cutting
If your CraftROBO does not completely cut through some lines of certain parts, but otherwise cuts other parts normally, the simplest solution is to cut that page twice. I have noticed that this commonly happens with "curved" parts, and occurs when the blade speed changes. This happens more with certain parts than others, and cutting twice often solves the problem.
Case 2: Gouged V-Corners
If you find that your CraftROBO is gouging and damaging the paper in the corners between glue tabs, it is because the CraftROBO blade is a free-swiveling drag knife, so the blade rotates to follow the cut. Consequently, when it encounters a cutting path that incorporates a concave "V" segment (commonly found between 2 adjacent glue tabs), it will rotate quite a lot to follow the cutting path. This rotation, combined with the excessive blade depth, causes the corners to be gouged out.
Usually, the damage isn't on the part itself, but rather on the surrounding paper. In that particular situation, the model part itself isn't affected, and thus the damage is just a cosmetic non-issue. However, if the damage is on the actual part itself, the simplest fix is to open the PDO file in Pepakura Designer and adjust the glue tab angles so that the blade doesn't need to rotate as much at the apex of the V.
Case 3: Uncut Corners
Sometimes when you are cutting out parts on thick cardstock, you may find that one corner of the part is still attached to the sheet. There isn't really anything you can do about this problem in Pepakura Designer, so you'll just have to carefully pop the part out at that corner or finish the cut yourself with a sharp hobby knife.
